In a significant development for our community, The Bridge on 7th, Brainerd’s overnight shelter, has transitioned to year-round operations. This change underscores our collective commitment to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness.
Since its inception in 2021, The Bridge on 7th operated seasonally, closing during the summer months. However, recognizing the persistent need for shelter, the Brainerd City Council unanimously approved an interim use permit on April 6, 2026, allowing the facility to remain open throughout the year.
Operated by the nonprofit organization Bridges of Hope, The Bridge on 7th provides a safe and warm place to sleep for those in need. The decision to extend its operations year-round reflects the community’s dedication to addressing homelessness and offering consistent support to vulnerable populations.
Community members have played a pivotal role in this initiative. Volunteers, local businesses, and faith-based organizations have come together to provide resources, meals, and support services. This collaborative effort highlights the strength and compassion inherent in Brainerd.
As we move forward, it’s essential to continue supporting The Bridge on 7th. Whether through volunteering, donations, or advocacy, every effort contributes to a more inclusive and caring community. Together, we can ensure that everyone in Brainerd has a place to call home, regardless of the season.
